‘Would be’ bombers spent leisurely week in Pattaya before blasts

Pattaya immigration officials have released details of a Thai woman who had acted as a guide for the Iranian bomb suspects during a short visit to the resort city.

The woman, identified by immigration authorities by her nickname, Nan, has reportedly told officers that she had escorted Mohammed Khazaei, one of the three suspected Iranians accused of involvement in the most recent Bangkok terror plot.

Nan said that the two met near the Balihai area in Pattaya and he asked her to escort him during his stay as he was not confident at speaking English.

She said that of her friends also escorted Mr Khazaei during his stay in Pattaya.

Pattaya immigration officials have released a photo taken from Nan’s mobile phone, which featured the other two who stand accused, Saeid Moradi and Masoud Sedaghat Zadeh.  The group stayed in Pattaya between February 8 and 13.

The three Iranian tourists have their photo taken after a big night of beer and snooker.

Pattaya Immigration chief, Pol Lt. Gol Thawatchai Nongbua, said that authorities had obtained circumstantial evidence from Nan, which helps piece together the lead up to the blasts in Bangkok.

Meanwhile, Thailand’s police chief Priewpan Damapong said that Nan was taken to the immigration bureau in Bangkok aimed at making  Mr Khazaei feel more at ease.

Sources say that Khazaei had been refusing food and showed signs of stress, but had become more relaxed since Nan’s visit.
