The popular tourist island of Phuket is hoping to break the national record by hosting the country’s largest wedding. A tentative date has been set for Valentine’s Day next year.
Owner of Suanluang Wedding & Studio, Kusol Thanangpol, met with Governor Tri Augkaradacha last week at Phuket Provincial Hall to discuss his plan for a mass wedding to be held in traditional Thai style
Kusol Thanangpol, owner of Suanluang Wedding & Studio, met Governor Tri Augkaradacha on Thursday (September 29) at Phuket Provincial Hall to explain his plan for organising the Thai traditional style mass wedding for 108 couples.
As a wedding organiser, Kusol predicts that with Phuket now becoming a major destination for wedding tourism, the event could promote the island and educate others on the unique traditions of a Thai wedding.
“Phuket is famous as a tourist attraction and increasing numbers of people are choosing it as their wedding destination. In my experience as a wedding organiser, most customers are impressed by a Thai-theme wedding. If we carry out this project, Phuket can boost interest in Thai traditions.”
Plans are already well on the way, place for the event has been chosen and clothing for the 108 couples will be revealed soon.
“We will hold the mass wedding at Laem Promthep because this is the best sunset in Thailand. We want to show off the beauty of Phuket. Preparing the venue, clothing for bridges and grooms and everything else should be started soon.”
Of the 108 couples, Mr Kusol suggested that prominent guests would also be on the invite list, with plans to sell four-day inclusive packages, including a honeymoon at Koh Racha.
The event will be officially launched next week, and potential couples can register their interest at this website.
