Bangkok is set to become home to its first Park Hyatt, with a tentative opening on the cards for 2014.
The luxury branch of the Hyatt group of hotels will be situated in the heart of the city’s CBD in a newly constructed, mixed-use premise. The ultra-modern design of the hotel is sure to add a distinctive finish to the Bangkok skyline.
Hyatt management are set on adding to the prominent brand, while providing further choice in one of Southeast Asia’s most popular destination with international travellers.
Plans for 222-room hotel will include restaurants for all-day dining, lobby lounge, specialty lounge, sky bar and restaurants with stunning views of the Thai capital. Other facilities on the cards include a swimming pool, state-of-the-art fitness centre and spa.
The Hyatt group is hoping to target business and MICE travellers, with a proposed 15,515 square-feet dedicated to providing a comfortable place for meetings and the latest technology in business communications.
The announcement comes as the group announce a radical plan to expand the Park Hyatt brand over the next few years. The company plans has plans to open a further 18 properties worldwide, with a focus on up and coming destinations, such as China.
Hyatt Hotel’s head of real estate and development, Stephen Haggerty, highlighted the new hotel’s prominent location that served ideally for guests as a gateway for guests from around the world.
“Park Hyatt Bangkok’s premier location within this attractive and rapidly growing international city represents our commitment to introducing the luxury of Park Hyatt to gateway locations around the world where our guests are traveling,” said Stephen Haggerty.
“The spectacular ‘twisted coil’ exterior design of this hotel will be a standout in Bangkok’s skyline and will reinforce the Park Hyatt brand’s long history of innovative design,” he continued.
The Park Hyatt in Bangkok will become Hyatt’s third Thai property, following the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel in Chidlom and the Hyatt Regency, which is situated in the seaside resort town of Hua Hin.
The new hotel will be situated at the site of the former British Embassy, close many of the city’s international businesses and the upper-class shopping areas of Chidlom.
