Chelsea FC to play exhibition match in Bangkok today

Chelsea will play an exhibition match against some of Thailand's best footballers today.

Runner-up champions in the English Premier League, Chelsea, have arrived in the Thai capital, Bangkok, before the second stage of their pre-season tour of Asia.

Hundreds of Thai-based Chelsea fans were out in force, many with faces painted blue, in order to welcome the one of the most well-known football clubs in the world. Fans also had their first chance to meet new manage Andre Villas-Boas with his first season with the squad.

The team made a slow start to their tour on Thursday, as Didier Drogba’s controversial goal saw them take the lead the Malaysia XI team in Kuala Lumpur.

The Premier League runner’s up will play a Thai All Stars XI today before flying to Hong Kong to compete for the Barclay’s Asia Trophy.

The tour is an important time for manager Villa-Boas and his side, who make their 2011 Premier League debut against Stoke on August 14th.
