Police investigate mysterious “Sejeal” link with the Bangkok bomb plot

Thai investigators are currently looking into the mystery surrounding a possible meaning after a number of stickers were found that contain a reference to a passage in the Koran.

Police remove one of the “Sejeal” stickers from a road sign.

Police are baffled after 52 of stickers containing the word “Sejeal” were found posted throughout the Khlong Toey district, not far from the residence of the bombers.

The stickers resembled those that were found at the site of the blasts on Sukhumvit Soi 71, as well as a under the seat of a motorcycle, which was allegedly owned by one of the suspects.

A large number of the “Sejeal” stickers were found on electricity poles and billboards throughout the area, leading investigators to believe that they could have been markers to show where the bombings take place.

It is believed that the botched terror attack was supposed to target Israeli officials who work at the embassy situated nearby.

It has been speculated that the word on the stickers, “Sejeal”, may refer to an passage from the Koran involving birds dropping stones on an army of soldiers on elephants that were attempting to murder the prophet Mohammed.

Palestinian militants also use the term to refer to weapons used to target Israel.
